How to care for Bromeliads

Bromeliads flower color is various, there are red, yellow, pink, and so on many kinds of colors, with high ornamental value. Many friends all want to grow Bromeliads, but do not know how to care for Bromeliads. Today we'll talk about Bromeliads care.

Bromeliads

1. Soil care

You first need to give it to find a suitable for the growth of the soil. It needs to lose soil, good air permeability, with fertile soil, rotten leaves can be used, perlite, vermiculite mixed. The proportion of 5:3:2 such mixed soil is suitable for growing Bromeliads, and could make it grow better, opening out the beautiful flowers.

2. Watering care

Bromeliads grow in moist soil, so we need timely watering Bromeliads, but do not need too much water every time, to avoid water roots rotting. In the spring and autumn season, it can be watered every 4 ~ 7 days. In hot and dry summer weather, moisture loss fast, it can be watered once a day. In winter it will be dormant, Bromeliads can be watered once every 10 days.

3. Fertilizing care

When we care for Bromeliads, it needs a lot of fertilizer, to be thin and fat frequently. Spring and autumn season is the most vigorous Bromeliads growing season,  and it can every 15 ~ 20 days a potassium, magnesium fertilizer. In hot and dry summer weather, you don't need too much fertilizer, or easy to come out of a large number of soil bacteria. Bromeliads impact is very bad, and we can apply nitrogen every other month, phosphorus, potassium, and it needs no fertilization in winter.

4. Sunshine care

The sun is very important, Bromeliads can grow better in the sun. We can carry out photosynthesis in the sun, to help absorb nutrients Bromeliads, prompting Bromeliads blooming flowers bright beautiful, especially in the winter, we need to give it full of sunshine. If growing in the shade, it can make the blade of Bromeliads lose the original color, but not in the bright sunlight it shines, or it will lead to wither Bromeliads death.

Bromeliads care for leaves yellowing

Bromeliads have sickle-like leaves that hang down, and each leaf grows in a tubular rosette, with flowers that are strangely shaped. How to care for bromeliads leaves yellowing? We will see the reason that it makes yellow below and Bromeliads care.

1. Overwatering causes Bromeliads leaves to turn yellow (water yellow) : Overwatering causes leaves to turn yellow and even cause root rot.

Solution: At ordinary times in the growing season in addition to keep the cultivation substrate moist, we also need to put half of the water in the leaf tube, but two or three days later to change water, to avoid water in the tube stink, affect plant growth.

2. Long-term water shortage causes Bromeliads' leaves to turn yellow (dry yellow) : the leaf edge and tip of Bromeliads are very prone to scorch and dry, so we need to keep the soil moist.

Solution: You can spray water to the leaf surface 1 ~ 2 times a day, and the central cup part of the leaf seat can be filled with water.

3. Exposure to sunlight causes Bromeliads to turn yellow. When exposed to too much sunlight, some of the leaves turn yellow, and the flower tips begin to turn dry and yellow.

Solution: Bromeliads habit likes half shade, and should prevent the scorching sun exposure, place half shade or have the window of brightness, indoor.

4. Bromeliads leaf yellowing caused by dry air: Bromeliads are very sensitive to relative humidity (RH). Under bright light or dry conditions, when the humidity is less than 50 {bf}, the leaves will curl inwardly or cannot extend.

Solution: Increase air humidity can prevent excessive evapotranspiration of plants resulting in scorching. Generally, high pressure spray (small steel gun) can increase air humidity and achieve cooling effect at the same time. The principle is that small drops of water can take away excess heat in the greenhouse in the process of evaporation. However, the cooling efficiency is slightly worse in the already high humidity environment in southern China.

5. High temperature causes Bromeliads to turn yellow: high temperature causes yellowing of leaves, dry flower tips and curling of leaves.

Solution: in summer, the water curtain fan system should be used to cool down, which can keep the blade and medium not too wet when used in the humid southern climate, and has the ventilation effect; When used in the dry north, the cooling effect is even better.

6. Too low temperature causes Bromeliads to turn yellow: Bromeliads dry and turn scorched, and in cases of severe cold, the plants die.

Solution: after the winter it should be moved into the room to keep warm, the room temperature can be maintained at 5℃, such as in special cold, and we can even cover the pot with plastic bags to warm.

7. Too much fertilization leads to yellow leaves (fat yellow) : Bromeliads were originally parasitic plants, the root system is not developed, only a small and short root system, so do not apply too much fertilizer, in order to prevent root rot, yellow leaves.

Solution: Apply it with thin, fatty water.

8. Yellow Bromeliads Leaves (Yellow Bromeliads) caused by long-term lack of fertilizer: Chronic lack of fertilizer causes thin and yellow leaves.

Solution: topdressing 1 ~ 2 times a month, basin soil can be wet, do not cut off water in the rolling hole, and increase the number of leaf spray, in order to improve the environmental humidity.

9. Root rot causes Bromeliads leaves to turn yellow: poor substrate drainage leads to root rot and insufficient water supply to leaf tips.

Solution: Just dig it up, wash the roots, dry them in the shade, dump the soil to dry, and replant.

10. Leaf yellowing caused by pests and diseases: Bromeliads are prone to pests and diseases such as soot, powdery mildew, red spider and scale insect in the environment of high temperature, humidity and poor ventilation.

Solution: It can be sprayed in time carbendazim, insect pests can spray oxidized Lesoate. No matter the spray liquid of which kind of medicine, it must be outdoors to undertake flower markets to buy antiseptic, insecticide pieces, bury in basin soil, eradicate disease and insect pests, in order to prevent pollution in the indoor environment. In addition, we also can buy flower market sterilization, insecticide pieces, in burying basin soil, eradicate disease and insect pests.
