Stapelia gigantea is a succulent plant with bright green stems. Several plants grow together in clusters about 10 cm high. They are like cactus with four edges, the ones are slightly dull, the ones are thick, soft, smooth and green.Flowers are solitary or in clusters;Pedicels are 2-3 cm long;Flowers are 3-5 cm in diameter;Corolla radiates pentagonal, outside green, smooth, inside yellowish green, uneven, with dark purple horizontal stripes and spots, corolla tube short, lobes triangular ovoid, tip short, edge lashes;The corolla is doublet, borne on gynoecium, outer helmet-shaped, pale yellow, with lavender brown spots, inner corolla 5-lobulated, 2 lobulated at each end;Pollen masses are 1 per compartment, erect, with a transparent membrane on the inner margin.
