Acorus Gramineus is distributed in Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Hubei, Hunan, Guangdong, Guangxi, Shaanxi, Gansu, Sichuan, Guizhou, Yunnan and Xizang in China and is often cultivated throughout China. It grows on waterside wetlands or rocks below 1800 meters above sea level. 

The root of Acorus gramineus is used as medicine. It tastes bitter, bitter and warm. Acorus Gramineus can remove phlegm and kill filth. It is often used as an ornament for landscape plants in potted plants or waterscape in gardens.

The rhizome is shorter, 5-10 cm long, transverse or oblique, fragrant, pale yellow rind, 1-5 mm long internodes; Roots are fleshy, numerous, up to 15 cm long; Acorus Gramineus rhizome is upper branching, tufted. The leaf base is folded in half, membranous leaf sheaths brown on both sides, lower 2-3 mm wide, extending up to below middle of leaf blade, tapering, exfoliated. The leaf blade is thick, linear, green, 20-30 cm long, extremely narrow, less than 6 mm wide, apex long acuminate, not ribbed, and has many parallel veins.

Acorus Gramineus peduncle is 2.5 -- 9 (-15) cm long. Leaflike flame bracts are short, 3-9 (-14) cm long, 1-2 times longer than panicles, sparsely shorter than panicles, narrow, 1-2 mm wide.Inflorescences yellow-green, cylindrical, 3 -- 9.5 cm long, 3 -- 5 mm thick, fruit inflorescences up to 1 cm thick, fruits yellow-green.Flowering may - June, fruit ripening July - August.
