String of buttons growing habits

String of buttons (Crassula perforata) are succulent plants that love the sun, but are afraid of the hot sun exposure. Therefore, String of buttons can enjoy full sunshine in spring, autumn and winter. In hot summer, shade should be appropriately shaded and a good ventilation environment should be maintained.

String of buttons (Crassula perforata) are not cold resistant and can withstand the low temperature of about 5℃. Low temperature String of buttons are prone to frostbite and even death.

String of buttons (Crassula perforata) are more resistant to drought, watering only when dry. Keep the soil moist during the growing season to avoid standing water, which can cause root and base rot. Winter in the indoor sunshine, if you can maintain more than 10 degrees Celsius, you can continue to water, the temperature is low to stop watering.

Fertilization management

String of buttons (Crassula perforata) are fattening succulents. Apply a thin, decaying liquid fertilizer every 15 days or so to promote plant growth. Stop applying fertilizer during slow growth or dormant period.

Soil requirements

String of buttons (Crassula perforata) are not high in soil requirements, basin soil should be loose and fertile, with good drainage and air permeability, can be planted in leaf rot soil, garden soil, coarse sand or vermiculite mixed soil.

String of buttons propagation method

How are fleshy strings of buttons (Crassula perforata) propagated? In fact, it is the same as any other fleshy plant. You can propagate strings of buttons with leaves or stems.

Stem insertion propagation of String of buttons (Crassula perforata): cut robust String of buttons with leaf stem segment, the length of the requirements are not strict, but there should be 2 sections, in order to prevent decay, should be air for 1 to 2 days, such as the wound dry inserted in leaf rot soil mixed with sand or vermiculite culture soil, after a little moisture, it is easy to root.

Second, leaf propagation: take String of buttons (Crassula perforata) robust, mature fleshy leaves, drying 1 to 2 days on the sand or vermiculite flat, pay attention to make the base of the leaves and cuttage media closely combined, after keeping wet, about 20 days the base will have new roots, new shoots grow out.
