Codariocalyx motorius (Houtt.) Ohashi is an erect small shrub plant up to 1.5 m high. Stem is simple or branched, rounded to oblate, slightly striate, glabrous. Leaves are three compound leaves, lateral leaflets are small or absent and only with a single leaflet;Stipules narrowly triangular, 10-14 mm long, 1.7-2.3 mm wide at base, usually oblique, glabrous, margin sparsely pilose. Petiole is 1.1-2 cm long, upper mask groove, sparsely spreading pilose. Apically lobules are elliptic or lanceolate, 5.5 -- 10 cm long, 1 -- 2.5 cm wide, apex rounded or acute, apiculate, base obtuse or rounded, glabrous above, appressed pubescent below, lateral veins 8 -- 14 on each side, not reaching margin, lateral lobules very small, elliptic or linear or sometimes absent;Stipules subulate, 3-5 mm long, glabrous on both surfaces. 

Inflorescence panicles or racemes are terminal or axillary, inflorescence shafts with curved hooked hairs. Bracts are broadly ovate, ca. 6 mm long, densely borne, glabrescent when flowered. Peduncle flowering 1 -- 4 mm, 3 -- 7 mm after flowering, puberulent and Calyx is membranous, 2-2.5 mm long, hairy externally, calyx tube 1-1.5 mm long, upper lobe apex 2-lobed, ca. 1 mm long, lower lobe ca. 1 mm long. Corolla is purplish red, flag petals 7.5-10 mm long, wing petals 6.5-9.5 mm long, 4-5 mm wide, keel petals ca. 10 mm long, ca. 3 mm wide, stamens 8-11 mm long. Pistil  is 10-12 mm long, ovary puberulent. 

Pod is sickle or straight, 2.5-4 cm long, ca.5 mm wide, ventral suture straight, dorsal suture slightly constricted, dehiscent along dorsal suture when mature, sparsely hooked short hair, pod node 5-9. Seeds are 4-4.5 mm long and 2.5-3 mm wide. Flowering period is from July to September, and fruiting from October to November.
